About Phil ![]() 'Let me help you to make 2010 your best year yet!' Having built up a successful Health & Wellbeing business in Central London over the last few years, I have decided to relocate back to my home town of Stafford. Now establishing my business in the Stafford area, I currently have opportunities for new clients. A little about me... I have a life long passion for health, fitness and well-being. This started with playing rugby and athletics at school and college, and led to me gaining qualifications with the National Amateur BodyBuilders Association, British Amateur WeightLifting Association and The British Amateur Athletics Board. Having gained my B.Sc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy, I then spent 14 years working as a physiotherapist in the NHS, the last 6 alongside working as a Personal Trainer. During this time, I worked developing and delivering individual and group programmes in the fields of: Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Running exercise groups and teaching stress management for patients with chronic breathing problems or who had suffered heart attacks, to ensure that they gained the confidence and ability to return to an active enjoyable life. Working with the over 60s I have had several years of experience working with this age group. I have designed appropriate exercise programs both for in the hospital and at home. Additionally I have helped design and deliver programmes incorporating exercise and advice for the management of many common problems including arthritis, muscle weakness, falls and loss of balance, helping people to develop the confidence to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Body and Mind I specialised for several years in the field of mental health, working on individual and group exercise programmes to promote general and physical wellbeing. It was working in this field that emphasised to me the importance of body mind and spirit in all aspects of wellbeing and how detrimental neglecting one could be to overall health. Interventions in this field frequently included stress management, relaxation, and dealing with weight issues and body image problems. Chronic Pain Management Working as a superintendent in musculoskeletal outpatients at the Hammersmith Hospital, I had a significant role in the development of treatments for helping those with chronic pain problems. To achieve success in this very difficult area, I drew on all my previous experience to ensure that programmes established realistic step by step achievable goals enabling individuals to change their behaviours and providing reinforcement and support, to maintain motivation through each step of a long term programme. Strength and Fitness Training. I have also worked in both the public and the private sector developing training programmes and providing one on one instruction and training for clients to achieve cardiovascular, body shaping and strength training goals - as well as effective weight loss management solutions. This has been in settings including hospitals, gym and clients home. So why choose me? Drawing on all my previous experience, I now offer a range of services to help you achieve what YOU really want to achieve (and not what anyone else thinks you should!). Whether this is improving fitness, sculpting your physique, weight loss, improved wellbeing, flexibility, balance or enhancing your ability to cope with the stress of modern life, giving yourself or someone else a well-deserved treat, I provide an holistic approach, focusing on overall wellbeing. This means total support and guidance throughout your programme, not just with your training, but also with your diet and nutrition, motivation and stress management! I am also available to give talks and workshops on health and fitness at any age, successful weight management and back care. I want you to succeed. I am always happy to answer any questions - no question too simple or complex. If you have any questions at all - about my services, the blog, or health and fitness in general, contact me now! |
